STATESMAN JOURNAL
As arts and culture reporter and theatre critic at the Statesman Journal in Salem, Oregon, from 2014 to 2016, Rastrelli created the column Keep Salem Weirder in which he entered and embraced local subcultures, including drag performing, belly dancing, and competitive eating. Two of his most-read stories were a profile of a tattooed monk and the rediscovery of a lost Ruben's painting. In 2015, his article about a local music teacher placed third in the Society of Professional Journalists' Northwest Excellence in Journalism for arts and entertainment.
