"Confessions of a Gay Priest" Online Launch Party
Time & Location
About the Event
Happy Pride! Join me for an online reading and discussion to celebrate the release of Confessions of A Gay Priest: A Memoir of Sex, Love, Abuse, and Scandal in the Catholic Seminary.
June 22 is the 18th anniversary of my ordination to the priesthood. Let's reclaim that date with big gay celebration of joy!
The event is hosted by Prairie Lights Bookstore in Iowa City. Please, show them your support.
You must RSVP here to get the link to attend the event online.
Author M.G. Lord will join me and interview me about the creation of Confessions. M.G. is the perfect candidate for this, as she is another recovered Cathlic and was my thesis advisor at the University of Southern California, where she remains on the faculty. She mentored me through the first two drafts of Confessions. M.G. is the author of The Accidental Feminist: How Elizabeth Taylor Raised Our Consciousness and We Were Too Distracted by Her Beauty to Notice, Forever Barbie: The Unauthorized Biography of a Real Doll, and Astro Turf: The Private Life of Rocket Science.
Author and PEN America Los Angeles Emerging Voices Fellowship Manager Amanda Fletcher will host. Amanda and I met at the New York Summer Writer's Institute at Skidmore College in 2010 and have been soulmates ever since. She's a prolific travel and freelance writer, who finished her provocative, profound, and hilarious memoir "HALO" while on a writer's retreat at my house prepandemic. If you think I survived some crazy and unbelievable things, wait until you read "HALO."
